Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer and infielder Ernie Clement were asked by an usher to relocate to their correct seats during the Toronto Maple Leafs' National Hockey League game against the New York Rangers at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on March 25, 2026.[1][2]
The moment was captured in a video that circulated widely on social media. The players, attending on a team off-day, stood up from their initial seats, moved up two rows and sidled past spectators to reach their assigned spots in the middle of the row.
Nearby fans recognized Clement upon arrival and exchanged fist bumps with him. Springer and Clement were later photographed celebrating a Maple Leafs goal by high-fiving surrounding supporters.
Images also showed the pair watching the Maple Leafs' pre-game warmups at the arena, which has been the NHL club's home since 1999.[1]
Springer, 34, joined the Blue Jays ahead of the 2021 season on a six-year contract and has played primarily in the outfield.[3] Clement, 30, is a Toronto native who debuted with the club in 2022 and serves as a utility infielder.[4]
The Blue Jays were preparing for their Major League Baseball season opener later that week at Rogers Centre in Toronto, the American League East team's home stadium since 1989.[5]
