Busch family joins drivers and owners at Charlotte pre-race tribute
NASCAR held a pre-race remembrance for Kyle Busch before the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on 24 May 2026. Kyle Busch's wife Samantha and son Brexton stood on pit road with drivers, team owner Richard Childress, and NASCAR CEO Steve O'Donnell. Bagpipes played "Amazing Grace" during the ceremony.
Busch died earlier in the week from complications of pneumonia. A moment of silence had already been observed at the Indianapolis 500 on the same day. The Charlotte event marked the family's first public appearance since the death.
O'Donnell addressed Samantha Busch directly, stating that the sport stands with the family and that Brexton and Lennix remain part of the NASCAR community. Drivers and spectators raised flags and the number 8 during the tribute.
The ceremony formed part of a weekend of tributes across multiple tracks. Additional observances are expected at future events as the sport continues to mark Busch's career.
